The Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, Hon. Smart Ijeoma Ufoh, has praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for convening what he described as a forward-looking Economic and Investment Summit, saying the initiative reflects a practical commitment to long-term economic development.
Speaking after the summit in Asaba, Ufoh said the event provided an important platform for government officials, investors, industry leaders and development experts to discuss strategies for unlocking Delta State's economic potential.
He argued that the governor's vision extends beyond policy discussions, pointing to ongoing investments in technical education as evidence that the administration is building the skilled workforce needed to support industrial growth.
According to the commissioner, the construction of modern technical colleges and the upgrading of existing schools with advanced equipment demonstrate a deliberate effort to prepare young people for employment in manufacturing, technology, construction and other productive sectors.
"Governor Oborevwori has shown that sustainable economic development begins with investment in people. By strengthening technical education, he is equipping young Deltans with practical skills that will drive innovation, create jobs and attract investment," Ufoh said.
He added that the Economic and Investment Summit complements the administration's broader development agenda by bringing together ideas, investment opportunities and institutional reforms required to accelerate economic growth.
Ufoh maintained that the governor's investments in technical education have removed any uncertainty about the administration's priorities, describing them as a clear indication of a long-term strategy aimed at transforming Delta State into a competitive industrial and investment hub.
He expressed confidence that the summit's recommendations, supported by continued investment in education and infrastructure, would strengthen the state's economy and improve opportunities for future generations.
The commissioner also called on investors, development partners and the private sector to collaborate with the state government in translating the summit's resolutions into tangible economic outcomes.
